Earthworms in India

Florence the Earthworm tells us that a few years ago a scientist in Gujurat, Western India became interested in how to use the polluted and toxic land of the country.

Textile companies and other big companies had been dumping their waste on the land.

The water and soil was contaminated by this waste and was not able to be used because it was dangerous. The worms were discovered to be able to remove the toxic heavy metals from the soil and give nutrients back to it.

The experiment showed a reduction of 60% of dangerous heavy metals in a year.
Earth Worms are not the only ones who can help, Fungi are also able to absorb the dangerous toxins. With all these natural solutions to treating land we should be overgrowing the planet in no time.
